ALONE WITH DISASTER

  On the night of 6 to 7 July 2012 a large part of the city Krymsk in the Krasnodar region and several neighbouring towns and villages became under the water for a few hours. Water entered the city when many were asleep, and arrived at an incredibly fast. For 20 minutes the first floors of homes were completely flooded. The water level reached 4 meters, in the neighbouring village of Nizhnebakansky which first underwent shock elements - up to 7 meters.
  Fighting for their lives and the lives of loved ones, people climbed on the roofs and trees, knocked out the window glass and crushed another floor. Several people were killed in the eddies, rescuing neighbours and just rushing to the cries for help.
  Survivors had to spend the night on the roofs of houses, some - a few hours standing in the water.
In the morning the water began to leave, leaving behind wrecked homes, overturned cars and spaced along the streets of thing. Even a few days after the incident remained flooded houses and courtyards, located in the lowlands.
  I arrived in Krymsk on the second day after the tragedy. People are just beginning to move away from the shock. Of those homes where the water is gone, people have tried to scrape mud and dirt, were dragged into the street destroyed property. Many have lost everything that was acquired over the years. Have lost loved ones and neighbours.
  The funerals started in the city  ...

  In flooding in Krymsk and the region, according to official figures, died more than 170 people. Thousands of homes caught in the flood zone, or are not suitable for further accommodation, or altogether destroyed. Scale of the disaster is huge.

  Three weeks after the tragedy of the Crimean and Crimean residents of the area with the help of volunteers and rescue services still continue to rake the debris and look for missing relatives.
